ISBI Rules

The I'm Surrounded By Idiots (ISBI) Challenge is by no means a "new" challenge for most of us, but just for the new folks at home, here's the lowdown (courtesy of Lynwood):

The ultimate goal is to survive 10 generations of sims while only controlling one sim at a time, and keeping score throughout.

Each Torch-Holder must have at least two children. You don’t HAVE to get married, but doing so increases the chance for more points (and more failures). If playing with the Insane trait rule than each child MUST be given the Insane trait at some point. Otherwise all traits and aspirations should be randomized.

Throughout the challenge, only ONE sim may be controlled by you, and that’s your current Torch Holder. All other sims must live on complete autonomy, to live (or fail) as they will. Obviously this means that sim autonomy should be turned on in your game settings at all times. When the child you’ve chosen as heir reaches YA, the ‘torch’ is passed to them and they become your controllable sim. Your former TH enters the land of autonomy and you are never allowed to control them again.

Once a child reaches YA and they are not your heir, they must be moved out of the household. You can add them to the neighborhood or delete them, up to you.

So, in other words, I choose and control the favourite child and leave the rest to their own devices. Sounds easy enough, but there are some parts of the Challenge I'll be doing differently to others:
  • Should this blog ever reach enough readers by the time I need to select my heir(ess); I will be using an Heir Poll to decide the next TH.
  • If I don't, which is more likely, I will be randomly selecting my heir with an online randomiser.
  • I won't be using the Inherited Insanity rule (wherein every TH must have the Insane trait) for the sake of being able to generate purely random traits and milestones - it's just more fun that way!
  • Where possible, I will also try to randomise the careers/skills that my TH will focus on at a time, so that I can branch out into new areas of gameplay that I might not have explored before.
I think that just about covers it, wish me luck!
